Om författaren

In the 1980's William Butt was one of the country's most celebrated show business personalities. In 1993 his career came to a sudden halt when he was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for alleged rapes against 9 women. Butt has always vehemently maintained his innocence, blaming a media witch-hunt and flaws in the Swedish legal system for his wrongful incarceration. His claims have gained total support from several of Sweden's top legal experts including two Supreme Court Judges and some of the county's most influential politicians and journalists.

The world is rapidly shrinking for Wikileakes founder Julian Assange! Observers in Sweden are surprised at the fact that the sexual molestation and rape accusations against him here seem to have been placed on the back burner, hardly receiving a mention in the worldwide media reports surrounding Wikileakes' recent sensational revelations. As of Wednesday morning it is reported that the whistleblowing Australian is one of Interpol's most wanted persons and it is obviously only a question of time before Act 3 in this bizarre circus is about to unfold.

Julian Assange has only himself to blame for this mess. If he had listened to and obeyed his Swedish lawyer Björn Hurtig, he could have avoided the enormous media coverage which is shortly about to dazzle the world by spotlighting these sex crime accusations even more than previously. Now as the time approaches for Julian Assange to be brought before a Swedish court (it's unavoidable that he will be) observers in Stockholm who stand on both sides of the "sex cases spectrum" are licking their lips. The active feminists can't wait to see him found guilty and imprisoned so that the world can learn a lesson from Sweden's way of dealing with rapists and perpetrators of violence against women.

And the anti-feminists are happy that the Swedish police, prosecutors and court's somewhat amateurish way of dealing with sex cases is about to be rocketed into world focus! The question now remains if the Swedish Justice system, which is just as much to blame for this ridiculous charade as Assange is, will handle this case the same way as it usually does in these type of cases or if a "special treatment" of the case will be adopted in order to save Sweden unnecessary embarrassment?

So what will happen to Julian Assange in Sweden?

First he will be locked up in the "Konobergshäktet" remand Centre in the Stockholm city area known as Kungsholmen for a few days during which he will be interviewed by the Police and Prosecutor. Following this he will be brought before the Stockholm district Court which will decide whether or not there are grounds to remand him in further custody. The charges could, at that time be dropped but this is highly unlikely because it is a well known fact in this rape-paranoid Swedish society that sex cases that have reached the stage which the Assange case finds itself are almost always pursued and seldom discarded.

If Julian Assange ever gets indicted and tried before a Swedish court, there is likely to be an outcry from the international media because the case (as most rape cases in Sweden) is subject to secrecy and the greater part of any eventual trial will take place behind closed doors thereby making it impossible for the media to know what is going on in the courtroom. This will, as is usually the case here in Sweden, open the doors for wild speculation and the majority of the news reports about the daily goings on in the courtroom will consist of subjective conclusions made by experts who are considered to have the knowledge to speculate about what is really going on inside the courtroom. The Swedish Legal system forbids the use of cameras in courtrooms so anyone who is expecting a mini O.J.Simpson style televised case will be disappointed.

Can Julian Assange receive a fair trial in Sweden?

Most jurists will officially answer that question by claiming that all trials in Sweden are fairly judged, but when the television cameras and reporters microphones are switched off the truth often comes out. As long as they are not being quoted on the record, the majority of Swedish jurists will admit that the chances of acquittal in cases like this are slim because Swedish Courts are notorious by tradition for almost always giving women and native Scandinavians the benefit of the doubt over men and immigrants.

It is also a well known fact here that the courts have a tendency to judge sex cases by looking at and listening to both parties and then deciding which of them the judges and jurors "think" are telling the truth. In their judgement process the courts tend to examine the behaviour of both parties. Julian Assange's own recent behaviour could affect his position and before he knows it the Wikileakes frontman, who was recently refused a residence permit in Sweden could very well find himself spending the next few years here anyway.

The world is rapidly shrinking for the US Government and other corrupt political entities.

Read what Paul Craig Roberts has to say:

Are you really sure William Butt?

I am an active feminist and I have not found any blood thirst among my sisters as it comes to locking mr Assange into prison. I would say that we are sad to see this collision between an Hero of Truth and an ordinary, dull woman-malester. However, we are not astonished :-)

For the fourth time I suggest this:

Allow representatives from F! and from PP to follow the (supposed) trial - even if the doors will be locked. Both mr Assange, Wikkileaks and Swedish citizens of both gender need to feel safe in this total mess.

As you already have mentioned...
It´s unavoidable that mr Assange is brought to the Police and...maybe...before a Swedish court.

Let´s get it done!
