Den 2 februari, 2009 skriver en kollega till mig, Roya Hakiminia, en artikel på SVT opinion om att rasismen i vården är utbredd. För mig kommer detta som ett chock. Precis som Roya är även jag verksam vid svenska sjukhus och vårdcentral och i de åtta terminer jag läst på läkarutbildningen har jag inte en enda gång stött på invandrarfientlighet än mindre rasism.

Det har tydligen blivit en trend att kalla allt och alla för rasister. Rasism innebär endast en sak och det är att man tror på rasläran. Vi måste vara mycket försiktiga med att använda denna benämning och det är mycket upprörande att vissa idag använder ordet rasism stup i kvarten. Att Roya påstår att rasismen i den svenska sjukvården är utbredd är totalt absurt. Jag tror knappast att våra vårdpersonal är personer med djupa ideologiska övertygelsen om att den ariska rasen är överlägsen.

Som en flykting har jag fått nog av att andra invandrare kallar vem som helst för rasist så fort något inte fungerar som de vill. Att en undersköterska eller en läkare slänger ut en kommentar som är nedsättande om invandrare är självklart beklagligt och skall fördömas, men att påstå att rasismen är utbredd är inget annat än en lögn. Jag har varit aktiv i de allra största sjukhusen i Skåne och en hel god del vårdcentral inom regionen, och jag har varken träffat på rasism eller invandrarfientlighet.

Vad Roya gör är en klassisk sätt på att göra en höna av en fjäder och underblåsa svenskfientligheten som tyvärr blir allt mer vanligt.

Den svenska sjukvården må ha brister, men någon utbredd rasism finns det överhuvudtaget inte. Jag blir djupt besviken över att en läkarstudent på detta sätt går till angrep mot kvinnor och män som vigt sitt liv för att då och då bota, ofta lindra men alltid och alltid, trösta.

Jag är klinikchef på Anestesikliniken Södertälje sjukhus där en av mina undersköterskor larmat om rasistiska uttalanden på intensivvårdsenheten. Detta har varit uppe i Debatt/TV. Samma reaktion som din finns på min klinik hos ffa två av mina anställda, Sevim född Turkiet och Bozena född Polen - de anser inte att man kan använda ordet rasism på det sätt som det görs i detta sammanhang - de anser att det är en förolämpning med tanke på vad rasism betyder för dem. Bozena reagerar också mycket starkt på att jag utsatts för dold inspelning på min arbetsplats- hon menar att det var för att slippa det som hon lämnade det kommunistiska Polen en gång. Vi svenskfödda är här alldeles för okänsliga för vad som gjort att våra kollegor/invandrare tagit det drastiska beslutet att lämna sitt hemland, är min åsikt.
Däremot vill jag ändå påstå att det finns ett alldeles för dåligt ansvarstagande inom åtminstone läkarkåren vad gäller att ta hand om kollegor som flytt hit till Sverige. Jag har byggt upp "Kollegialt Nätverk" på Läkarförbundet för drygt tio år sedan och jag kommer väl ihåg hur många kollegor som ringde och var förtvivlade över att de inte ens fick komma på intervju till ett jobb bara för att de hade ett utländskt namn/bröt på svenska språket. På Södertälje sjukhus har vi faktiskt försökt ta vårt ansvar och de senaste åren kontinuerligt haft irakiska syrianska kollegor på provtjänstgöring, gett dem legitimation och slussat ut dem till jobb på andra sjukhus. De behöver handledning i början även om de är specialister i sitt hemland och det bästa sättet att lära sig en flytande svenska är att arbeta där det talas svenska(enligt dem).
Vi försöker också hjälpa läkare i Irak. Sedan två år tillbaks har jag nu försökt få in Nayif från Jemen - statslös palestinier somflytt från Irak - då han är en kompetent narkosläkare, fd chef för en intensivvårdsenhet i Bagdad. Men det var/är hopplöst. Sedan fem månader sitter han i ett flyktingläger i Älgarås men inte ens därifrån får jag anställa honom - Migrationsverket är svårt att övertyga trots de nya reglerna.Men vi ger inte upp!

Svenska samhället måste lära sig att inte blunda för det faktum att rasism finns, utan acceptera saken och göra något åt det. Det hjälper väl inte att säga att rasism inte finns, för att det finns.
